First Uk application of Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage



Fulcrum Consulting provided advice on sustainable design in connection with this new, 100% affordable housing development located at the west gateway to Central London. Five buildings with an approximate total area of 8500m² comprising accommodation for a total of 130 dwellings.

The client's aim was to set new benchmarks in quality and sustainability for affordable housing developments. The scheme includes warm-air heating and a ventilation system with high-efficiency heat recovery; borehole extracted water and solar roof system to provide domestic hot and cold water supply; design of SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System); first Uk application of Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) technology for space heating and comfort cooling.
