Zero Carbon Definition Fulcrum Consulting understand the importance of the definition of ‘zero carbon buildings’; we also understand that apparently minor changes in the wording or calculation methodology can have a profound impact on the cost and viability of projects. We were heavily involved in the UK-GBC report which informed this consultation document and have remained involved in the critical conversations taking place between Government and the industry. We believe that this consultation is an important opportunity to help steer the construction standards of the future. Without proper input from industry we are likely to see more confusion and over-prescriptive legislation; but a strong, well considered, response can help avoid many of the foreseeable pitfalls.
